Topic TBA. 2010 Barge Trip on the Mississippi River Back by popular demand! We are planning a tour along the Mississippi River and St. Louis Riverfront on a barge piloted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and their working towboat. Learn about river transportation, channel maintenance, levees and flood protection, businesses that use the river, and about the efforts to protect and improve natural areas, habitat and recreational opportunities in the confluence region. This trip is organized by St. Louis Earth Day in cooperation with the Corps of Engineers, East-West Gateway Council of Governments, Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District and the Missouri Department of Conservation and will be held in conjunction with the St. Louis Earth Day Symposium.
