We are seeking artist submissions for our Eco-Art Village for the 21st Annual St. Louis Earth Day Festival on Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 11 AM to 6 PM in Forest Park on The Muny Grounds. The Festival is the oldest and largest of its kind in the Midwest attracting 27,000+ people and 250 vendors.

The Eco-Art Village consists of regional artisans, craftsmen and artists who explore aspects of nature, re-use, recycling, sustainability and heritage in their work.

The festival features vendors, artists and entertainment and encourages people to not just green up their lives through environmentally friendly products and services but also by experiencing art and nature.

There are two ways to exhibit:

1.   Display and Sell

  • FEE = $75

2.   Display, Sell AND Educate

  • FEE = $25
  • Demonstrate your craft and/or provide a hands-on activity throughout the day

The Eco-Art Village will include a 10' x 10' booth space (tent not included). You will need to provide a table and a chair.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Artists must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the Eco-Art Village:

MATERIALS

Art and Crafts made from materials that are environmentally sensitive including:

  • Natural/biodegradable
  • Reused/repurposed/upcycled

SUBJECT/IMAGERY

  • Nature-focused imagery (predominant focus of art in the collection)
  • Art has an environmental message (educational, political, etc)

ORIGINATION

  • All art sold at this booth must be the creation of the applicant.

All or most of the art at the Festival booth must meet the above criteria.

 

To be considered for inclusion in the Eco-Art Village, please fill out the Eco-Art Village Proposal Form below. Those not accepted as part of the Eco-Art Village are still eligible for regular booth space in the Arts + Jewelry + Clothes + Crafts Neighborhood.

 

 

ECO-ART VILLAGE RULES AND REGULATIONS

Sunday, April 25, 2009  11 AM to 6 PM   In Forest Park on the Muny Grounds

1. Festival held rain or shine. ECO-ART FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

2. Allotted space is 10' x 10'

3. ARTISTS MUST PROVIDE THEIR OWN TABLE AND CHAIRS.

4. St. Louis Earth Day does not provide tents.

5. ALL TENTS MUST BE SECURED FOR SAFETY REASONS

  • ABSOLUTELY NO STAKING IN THE GROUND (to prevent damage to in-ground sprinkler systems)
  • Acceptable: Sand bags, cinder blocks or water ballast, all must be TIED to tent structure.
  • Tents WILL BE inspected and violators must adjust or take down their tents, no exceptions.
  • Violators will be cited. If damaged is caused, a repair fee will be accessed by the City of St. Louis.

6. Tenting is encouraged, but not required.

7. Eco-Artist is responsible for his/her exhibit and all items in it.

8. Overnight security is available Saturday night only.

9.  Eco-Artist booth must be ready to open by 11 AM and remain open until 6 PM.

10. Food items/beverages CAN NOT be sold or given away unless given permission by St. Louis Earth Day.

11. Eco-Artists MAY NOT give away plastic bags with purchases or giveaways (for environmental considerations).

12. Recycling is expected and containers will be provided.

13. Smoking is not permitted in Eco-Artist booths.

14. Eco -Artists are responsible for paying sales tax in compliance with local and state tax law.

15.  In order to obtain an Event License Waiver, Vendors must complete and submit the License Collector's form (see Vendor Resources).

16. Eco-Artists who operate within the City of St. Louis are required to have business license on file. This includes those who work from home and side-line businesses. Contact the License Collector's Office: 622-4528.

17.  Eco-Artist must comply with the rules & regulations of Forest Park and the City of St. Louis.
