ST. LOUIS EARTH DAY FESTIVAL INFORMATION Sunday, April 25, 2010 11 AM to 6 PM In Forest Park on the Muny Grounds
FESTIVAL DESCRIPTION: The Festival is the oldest and largest environmental event in the Midwest featuring 250 vendors and attracting 25,000+ people. It is the premier destination to learn about environmental issues and solutions in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere of celebration. Live entertainment, local food, wine and beer and hands-on activities are also an important part of the Festival. WHO ATTENDS: A diverse, highly-educated demographic ranging in age and interest. Many attend as a family or with a group of friends. Attendees are united by the desire to discover GREEN information in a fun environment. We also draw many who are new to the green movement, making the Festival an ideal setting to promote your product or service. VENDORS SELLING PRODUCTS: Vendors with affordably priced items ($5-$40) do well. Promoting higher-end products is encouraged but onsite sales will most likely be limited. Vendors promoting services report a strong correlation between this event and leads/new clients. Finally, the Festival is an ideal venue to collect contact information for future promotion. ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY: Vendors are strongly encouraged to offer products and services that are in keeping with the environmental spirit of Earth Day. Help reduce your environmental impact by minimizing the number of printed materials on hand and by collecting email addresses for future electronic (paperless) promotion. EVENT FOOTPRINT Thanks to positive reception in 2009, the 2010 Festival will be organized by Neighborhood sections to enhance the educational aspects of the event. Themed Neighborhoods will receive special distinction via Festival signage, placement in the program and content-specific educational hands-on activities. Vendors preferring the covered walkways will not be put into topical groupings, but will be placed in this prime location on a first-come, first-serve basis. Neighborhoods include: Energy Efficiency + Green Building + Alternative Fuels/Transit Pets/Pet Care Reduce, Reuse, Recycle + Solid Waste Management Arts + Jewelry + Clothes + Crafts Health + Nutrition + Beauty Earth Day Café + Food Education Nature + Natural Resources + Recreation Home + Family + Spirituality Education + Legislative + Governmental FESTIVAL 2010 - NEW "TRANSPARENT GREEN" VENDOR DESIGNATION "Transparent Green" is a Festival distinction that highlights your GREENESS and identifies you as supporting the St. Louis Earth Day mission by lessening your environmental impact. In addition to highlighting your current practices, this program challenges your company to set at least one goal to further reduce your impact over the next year. Participation demonstrates your commitment to informing the public about what they are consuming, thereby helping them make more informed decisions. Participation also provides you with special designation in the Festival program and a listing on the St. Louis Earth Day website. Initiate participation by checking the box on your registration form. You will receive instructions on how to participate and resources for decreasing your environmental impact.
