The St. Louis Earth Day annually presents an Annual Earth Day Symposium targeting local government staff and officials and the professional community that serves them and works within their jurisdictions. Historically, symposia have taken place in the spring to include this audience in Earth Day festivities and to provide resources for ongoing improvements in environmental stewardship through governmental leadership. As of 2009, symposia will be held in the fall to round out the events offered by our year-round organization - reinforcing our motto: Earth Day Every Day! The 2009 Earth Day Symposium will took place in November 11-13. In the past, symposia have focused on water quality issues but the scope broadened in 2009 to consider the current economic condition and its relationship to the environment.
St. Louis Earth Day would like to thank all those who contributed time, energy, talent, and money to the 2009 Earth Day Symposium to make it possible, including our sponsors, speakers, and the planning committee. And of course, a BIG thanks to our volunteers! Year after year, the Symposium is stitched together by a team of volunteer professionals and community leaders under the facilitation of St. Louis Earth Day. Without their help, the event would pale in comparison to the vibrant program that returns year after year, adapting to reflect the interests of the planning committee and the most pressing environmental issues of the day.
